After several years of hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Kolej International Graduate Studies (KIGS) resumed its Global Classroom programme with 29 students leaving for Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia yesterday.

The programme will take place at the university’s International Campus, Cyberjaya from March 6 to 19, led by lecturer from the Faculty of Business Hajah Norhafidah binti Jafaradin.

Meanwhile, 12 students are attending the Brunei Global Classroom created to support and aid students not able to attend the Global Classroom programme due to work responsibilities or not having the financial means to complete the compulsory six credit hours required for programme completion.

Prior to departure, a prayer was read by lecturer at the Faculty of General Studies’ Ustaz Nurdin.

Chief Executive Officer Dr Haji Azaharaini bin Haji Mohd Jamil noted that this is the first Global Classroom since COVID-19 in 2019.

“Limkokwing University of Creative Technology (LUCT) Kuala Lumpur campus offers a strategic location for the Global Classroom experience as it is recognised for its multinational corporations, design and living, cultural diversity and education,” he said.

Hajah Norafidah noted that this programme is part of the student’s final year curriculum.

“The students will be taken on cultural or industrial visits where they can make a project from what they gather from the research. They are excited and are looking forward to what they will experience.

“I hope they can bring brilliant ideas on whatever they learn outside Brunei and bring value to Brunei,” she said.

Student Sheikh Aiman said, “Because of the travel restrictions due to COVID-19 this course was unavailable back then but now, I am grateful to be part of the first batch to undergo the course. I am eager to learn more about Information Technology (IT) throughout this programme and adopt these new skills and knowledge when I return.”

Meanwhile, fellow student Irdina Bazilah hopes to be able to broaden her knowledge and gain experiences and explore more things, such as interesting places and culture among other things.
