Some 60 Year 3 to Year 5 students of Sungai Siamas Primary School joined an origami workshop yesterday, organised by the Embassy of Japan in Brunei Darussalam, to introduce students to traditional Japanese arts and culture.
Japanese Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam Maeda Toru also joined the workshop and mingled with the children.
Fauzan Othman from the embassy, whose hobby is making origami, facilitated the workshop and provided students with instructions on how to make ‘Pikachu’ and ‘Jumping frog’.
The ambassador said, “I enjoyed the workshop and felt that the kids enjoyed it too. I hope we can extend this activity to other schools.”
Headmistress Nor Asnawati binti Haji Mohd Yassin said, “The students loved the activity. I believe that this workshop can nurture their creativity and at the same time learn about Japan. We are thankful that the embassy had taken the time to organise the workshop in our school.”
