Germanischer Lloyd Offshore and Industrial Services (B) Sdn Bhd (Trading as DNV) conducted a sharing session at the Institute of Brunei Technical Education (IBTE) yesterday to introduce and highlight the importance of Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) and how it contributes to overall safety across various disciplines.

Held at the Welding Workshop B at the IBTE Sultan Bolkiah Campus (SBC) Seria, 44 students from NTec in Welding attended the session, accompanied by instructors.

The contingent from DNV set up booths to discuss and focus on the various forms of NDT used in the field including dye penetrant testing, ultrasonic testing, radiography testing, eddy current testing, magnetic particle testing, and visual testing; each led by inspectors from DNV showcasing how the tests are conducted through presentations as well as practical showcases.

One of the first sharing sessions by DNV in 2022, represented the company’s corporate social responsibilities (CSRs) in giving back to the community, especially in helping inspire and guide the next generation of local inspectors to be safety-minded and be aware of the techniques and technologies used in the NDT field.
