Students introduced to Brunei museums, heritage

A HUNDRED and eight students from Year 10 and Year 11 of the Rimba Secondary School yesterday attended the Muziumku, Warisanku programme organised by the Department of Museums at the multi-purpose hall of the school.

Also present was Principal of Rimba Secondary School Haji Malai Shah Eran bin Haji Syed Yusoof Al-Idrus and Deputy Principal of Rimba Secondary School Rosmawati binti Mohammad.

The programme was divided into two sessions. The first session saw a briefing by the Acting Student Services Officer Erna Omar who explained the function and role of museums, as well as the various galleries and museums within the Sultanate and the importance of maintaining the heritage of the country.

The briefing session also saw a screening of Brunei’s history and a question-and-answer segment.

The second session was filled with an exhibition and demonstration of different Brunei traditional games such as Pasang, Congkak, Simban, Tilu-Tilan and Buah Lapas-Lapas among others carried out by the officers and staff of the Department of Museums to expose students to the country’s traditional games.

The event aimed to give exposure on the Brunei heritage as well as museums in the country to the students.
