Students hailed at graduation ceremony

The 2022 academic year started rough, but we are grateful to return to face-to-face school routine. Nevertheless it is another productive year for Seri Mulia Sarjana International School (SMSIS), said SMSIS Principal Chong Wee Meng during the school’s 24th Graduation Ceremony at the Songket Ballroom of The Rizqun International Hotel yesterday.

He added that throughout the school year, the students participated and obtained awards in a number of competitions including The Queen’s Commonwealth Essay Competition, International Mental Mathematics Competition, Asia Pacific Mathematical Olympiad for Primary Schools, National Children’s Choir Competition, SEAMEO-Japan ESD Award and Festival Kids Athletics.

“The pandemic and home-based learning also saw the academic team sharpen their digital literacy skills and 21st Century pedagogy through professional developments to meet the demand of digital learning. It is also during this time that the school took digital learning further and launched the SMSIS Digital Learning Unit (DLU) last September.

“Next year will be SMSIS’s milestone year as it celebrates 25 years of distinctions. Our motivation and passion as educators remain strong, hence in stepping forward we are set to embark on more successes and march ahead to deliver quality international education,” he said.

Embassy of Indonesia in Brunei Darussalam’s Deputy Chief of Mission Irwan Iding was the guest of honour.

The ceremony also saw the presentation of Best in Core Subjects award and International award.

Several stage performances were also showcased.

Also present were founder and Chief Executive Officer of Sarjana Education Group Dr Mary Lim, Chief Operating Officer of Sarjana Education Group Leonard Lim, Zone Officer from the Department of Private Education Dayangku Norashikin binti Pengiran Haji Kamaruddin from the Ministry of Education and Board of Governors member Norlinda Dee binti Haji Mohd Taib.
