One hundred and twenty students from Sultan Muhammad Jamalul Alam (SMJA) Secondary School attended the ‘Get to Know ASEAN Roadshow’ conducted by the Information Department at the Prime Minister’s Office through the International Affairs Unit as the Secretariat of the Information Sub-Committee (SCI) ASEAN-COCI recently.

The programme serves as an effort to boost the patriotic spirit among the students in appreciating the function and purpose of ASEAN’s establishment.

It also serves to strengthen ties among the Information Department and the community particularly students who play an important role in catalysing the nation’s future direction.

The roadshow began with a briefing on ASEAN by Head of the International Affairs Unit Information Officer Mufidah binti Abdul Hakim, instilling awareness and a sense of belonging among the students as part of the ASEAN Community in line with the ASEAN Motto ‘One Vision, One Identity, One Community’.

The briefing also highlighted Brunei Darussalam’s ASEAN Chairmanship this year as well as an ASEAN quiz segment to identify the students’ understanding on ASEAN and the organisation’s role in building its member countries.

The briefing also promoted the ‘We ASEAN’ app, a project under  the SCI ASEAN-COCI, which contains information on ASEAN and its members states, ASEAN calendar, quiz as well as photo and video gallery.
