Students get lessons in patriotism

THE Information Department through its Belait District branch continued to hold its Nationhood Briefing Programme for students in the district. This time, it was held at the Perdana Wazir Secondary School, Kuala Belait yesterday morning.

A total of 76 Year 7 students of the school attended the programme which aims to instill patriotism among students across the country.

The school’s Deputy Principal (Administration) Norsadiyah binti Haji Sadim, representing the Principal Mohammad Fliti, oversaw the programme.

The programme comprised a series of briefings titled Raja Kita, Menghayati Bendera dan Lagu Kebangsaan (Our Sovereign, Appreciation of the Flag and National Anthem) delivered by External Information Officer Isa bin Haji Abdul Rahman and Head of the Information Department at the Belait District branch Pengiran Haji Ahmad Fadillah Akhbar bin Pengiran Haji Sellahuddin.

Isa talked about the history of the Brunei monarchy while Pengiran Haji Ahmad Fadillah Akhbar touched on the aspect that makes up the country’s national flag, flag-hoisting procedures and creation of the national anthem.

Several videos were shown between the briefing such as Kibarkanlah Dengan Megah Bendera Negara, Semarak Pengibaran Bendera Negara and Tatacara Menaikkan Bendera Negara.

Near the programme’s conclusion, students participated in quizzes testing their knowledge on the topics discussed, with those answering correctly receiving special goodie bags from the Information Department.
