KINDERGARTEN students of Chung Ching Middle School, Seria participated in several Chinese New Year themed games and activities on January 24 at the school’s multi-purpose hall.

The students were accompanied by their parents and guardians as wellas teachers to learn the cultural significance of the celebration.

Kindergarten Head Supervisor Foo Yong Lee said the Chinese New Year celebration is a joyful tradition to welcome the Chinese New Year and represents a time when families can reunite and spend quality time.

Activities included a presentation on the origin of Chinese New Year and an introduction to several traditional food served during the celebration.

Students participated in a song and dance performance.

“Our school would annually organise family activities to improve the relationship between parents and children,” she added.

She hoped the activities will highlight the significance of the tradition to pass on to the next generation and acknowledge the importance of teamwork.

The event was also enlivened with a Chinese New Year Fortune Bag Design Competition and colouring activity.
