Four student-made cybersecurity videos have been selected to air on local television and cinemas as part of a video competition organised by the Brunei Computer Emergency Response Team (BruCERT) under Cyber Security Brunei (CSB) in collaboration with the Creative Computing Programme Area of Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB).
Out of the 12 submissions, the four selected videos were judged based on creativity, quality of videos and the clarity of the awareness message related to cybersecurity and online safety issues.
The winning video ‘What hackers can do with stolen data’ created by Mohammad Edy Aswandi bin Haji Matassan, focusses on the dangers of connecting to an unsecured Wi-Fi network and how users personal data can be exploited.
In second place, a video on ‘Two-Factor Authentication’ produced by Naderah Nabelah @ Derah binti Haji Mohd Faderin Lee, highlights the importance of two-factor authentication as a second layer security.
A video of ‘Fake News’ by Sharifah Nur Amanina binti Shaikh Haji Abdul Mutalib grabbed third place. It warned viewers not to believe everything they see online.
In fourth place, a video on ‘Netiquette’ produced by Nur Rahmah binti Abdul Rahim, focusses on the effects of cyberbullying.
The winners took home cash, certificates and CSB merchandise. Their videos will also be posted on BruCERT’s social media accounts.
Deputy Chief Information Security Officer of CSB Mohamad Azad Zaki bin Haji Mohd Tahir presented the prizes, in the presence of UTB’s Creative Computing Programme Area Programme Leader Haji Idham Maswadi bin Haji Mashud.
