As a Bruneian, it is really alarming to learn that we have surpassed the 200-case mark when it comes to COVID-19. My question is: why are we still letting people into the country?
I fully understand the need for essential travellers to cross the borders. But how about their family members? Are they essential, too?
In cases where we have no choice but to depend on foreign expertise, perhaps we could refrain from taking those from COVID-19 hotspots?
Then there are locals who apply for essential travels backed by legitimate reasons only to be rejected by the authorities.
I believe we need a more concerted effort in fighting the pandemic now more than ever, especially in the midst of more contagious variants surfacing around the world.
