The two-day educational programme Space Camp 2021 kicked off on March 25 to promote the budding space-related industry in Brunei Darussalam.

The camp, themed ‘One Small Step for Youths, One Big Step for the Nation’, was organised by Network Integrity Assurance Technologies Shd Bhd (NiAT) with support from Cyber Security Brunei (CSB) and Astronomical Society of Brunei Darussalam (PABD) as guest speakers.

The programme at Telisai Earth Station in Tutong is the first of its kind to be hosted in Brunei. Thirty participants between the 13-17 age bracket joined the programme.

The programme helped raise awareness on space science, technology and remote sensing application. Participants experienced what it is like to be an astronaut through team activities that included learning about building and designing rocket ship and spacesuits, and a treasure hunt using NiAT’s advance geographic information systems (GIS).
