Stay home if COVID positive, says minister

The public is again reminded to isolate themselves when experiencing fever, carry out antigen rapid tests (ART), and to not go out of their homes if they are COVID-19 positive.

Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar said this during a press conference yesterday.

The minister also noted rumours of COVID-19 positive individuals who exit their homes and dine in at restaurants.

“This is bigoted or arrogant behaviour as they are being self-centred. People need to think about others around them as there may be workers or individuals who need to take care of the elderly or those with non-communicable diseases with low immunity.”

If an individual is aware that he is positive, he should stay indoors or if experiencing a fever and negative for COVID-19, he needs to wear a face mask while leaving home, the minister said.

“With good practices such as getting vaccinated, wearing a face mask and isolating when positive, the pandemic situation can be controlled, especially with Categories 4 and 5 so it will continue to be low,” said the minister.

He added that with the blessings of everyone’s effort and prayers such as that of the weekly Munajat night, which the public is welcome to participate in, the Sultanate will hopefully remain protected from threats that can affect the country’s health.
