To increase public awareness and knowledge on maritime security issues, especially on the safety of fishermen while at sea, the Task Force for Security of Offshore Installation (TF KPMLP) under the Maritime Security Working Committee (JKKM) launched the Public Awareness Signage yesterday.

It also aimed to inform the public, especially fishermen, on the importance of safeguarding the offshore oil platforms, as well as regulations and laws related to the maritime domain.

Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces Major General (U) Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Hamzah bin Haji Sahat in his capacity as the Chairman of the JKKM attended the ceremony at Pengkalan Sibabau Boat Ramp, Kampong Mentiri.

The event also saw the handing over of the Public Awareness Poster by Major General (U) Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Hamzah to Acting Penghulu of Mukim Mentiri Pengiran Haji Ismail bin Pengiran Ibrahim and Acting Village Head of Kampong Mentiri Haji Bujang bin Sabtu.

TF KPMLP chairman, TF KPMLP members, JKKM members and government officials were also present at the ceremony.
