Sports School sets future direction

The Sports School in Kampong Pulaie launched mission and vision statements for sports under its curriculum in a ceremony yesterday.

The mission and vision statements for badminton; netball; karate; athletics; pencak silat; sepak takraw; and strength and conditioning will serve as guidance for coaches and students to achieve targets, according to the school.

Director of Co-Curriculum Education Mohammad Norilham bin Haji Jais was the guest of honour.

The vision statement for badminton is to produce players who have the potential to represent the country in national and international level, while the mission for the Sports School is to become a quality badminton training centre.

For netball, the vision is to become centre for education and development in the sport while the mission is to prepare a safe and structured training environment.

The vision for football is to produce young, high quality players that can be part of the national squad while the mission is to prepare a high quality training programme and provide positive impact.

The vision for sepak takraw is to produce athletes to succeed the national squad from youth level and the mission is to prepare quality training in pre-national level.

For pencak silat, the vision is to be a community that is courteous and harmonious, while the mission is to become a centre for high performance and development by using the approach and practices of best coaching under the guidance of Brunei Darussalam Pencak Silat Federation and International Pencak Silat Federation.

The vision for karate is to become a centre of excellence while the mission is to develop athletes who are high spirited and empower them to become great leaders.

The vision for athletics is produce high quality young athletes and the mission is to prepare a training base on athlete’s performance.

For strength and conditioning, the vision is to be a centre for excellence and development, while the mission is to prepare and shape a programme to achieve high performance in the sport.
