A total of 67 students were celebrated yesterday during the Sports School Brunei Darussalam Award Presentation ceremony for outstanding students for the BC GCE/IGCSE ‘O’ Level examination 2022 held at the Pengiran Anak Puteri Muta- wakkilah Hayatul Bolkiah Religious School, in Serusop.
Former Sports School principal Matthew Eric Letham was present as the guest of honour. Also present was Head of Cluster 3 at the Department of Schools Hajah Amal Nuriyah binti Haji Ahmad Kumpoh, and TotalEnergies Brunei General Manager and Country Chair Jerome Saniez.
The event commenced with the graduates’ entrance, followed by the recitation of verses from the Al-Quran by Year 10 student Muhammad Hamizan bin Metali, while the translation was read by Abdul Wafiq Wafiuddin Rifa’ie bin Haji Roslan. Acting Principal of Sports School Hajah Aisah binti Haji Mohd Salleh then gave a welcoming remark which was followed by a speech by the guest of honour.
The event then saw the presentation of special contribution by Saniez to three students from the academic and sports streams – Muhammad Hadi Aziman bin Abdul Rahman from the academic stream who obtained eight O-levels, sports stream student, bowling athlete Muhammad Nasrullah bin Alidon who obtained six O-levels, and pencak silat athlete Awangku Muhd Azhar Nasrullah bin Pengiran Haji Mohd Yasrizam Ayub who obtained six O-levels.

The event continued with the presentation of certificates by the guest of honour to students who achieved five credits and above.
The acting principal then presented certificates and prizes for Best Student Progress, Best Student Achievement in the General Science programme, Best Student Achievement in the General Arts programme, Best Student Achievement in the Sports Stream and the Best Overall Student Achievement.
A speech was also delivered by a student representative Mohammad Syafiq Masliandi Shah bin Mohammad Masdi as the representative of the recipient for the Best Student prize, followed by the presentation of certificates of appreciation to Year 11 teachers and coaches, and the presentation of souvenirs by Deputy Principal of Sport SchoolHaji Azrin bin Haji Aji to the guest of honour. The event concluded with the recitation of Doa Selamat by Sports School Education Officer Haji Muhammad Azrol Azmin bin Haji Ahmad.
