All football and futsal activities have been suspended until further notice, said the Football Association of Brunei Darussalam (FABD), the national football governing body yesterday.
The announcement came after COVID-19 prevention measures were re-imposed yesterday after the detection of seven locally transmitted cases were announced during a press conference by the Ministry of Health (MoH) yesterday. The source of infection for two of the cases have not yet been identified.
The MoH announced strict measures for further prevention of the spread effective immediately for two weeks, including the closure of indoor and outdoor sporting facilities.
In response, FABD suspended all football and futsal activities and competitions, including the Brunei Super League, Brunei Under-18 Youth League, Brunei Under-15 Youth League, Brunei Futsal League and all leagues organised under district
football associations.
This is also extended to all ongoing and upcoming football and futsal courses, said the FABD.
Meanwhile, the Brunei Darussalam National Badminton Association (BDNBA) has announced the postponement of the Aewon Open Badminton Championship 2021 and the Unified Badminton Tournament 2021 until further notice.
