Special needs students receive certificates

A certificate presentation ceremony was held for special needs students who completed competency based training (CBT) organised by the Society for the Management of Autism Related issues in Training, Education and Resources (SMARTER) Brunei yesterday.

Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin officiated the event held in conjunction with International Day of Persons with Disabilities (HAOKU).

Acting President of SMARTER Brunei Pengiran Zamri bin Pengiran Haji Bujang said the association will continue to strive to ensure the special needs children are confident, independent and productive.

Chief Executive Officer of SMARTER Brunei Sharifah Adilia Surya binti Malai Haji Abdullah said the centre has 35 students between 12 and 36.

The event included a video presentation, a performance featuring individuals with autism and a presentation of certificates of recognition to adults with autism.

A panel discussion was also held on ‘Disabilities in Post COVID-19 Brunei, Lessons Learned to Build Better Inclusion, Integration and Accessibility’.
