The Brunei Darussalam Amateur Radio Association (BDARA) in collaboration with the Belait District Scouts Association (BDSA) held a Special Call Station in conjunction with Brunei Darussalam’s 37th National Day celebration at the BDSA’s headquarters in Jalan Maulana, Kuala Belait.

Legislative Council member and Acting Penghulu of Mukim Liang Yang Berhormat Haji Abdul Hamid bin Haji Mumin was the guest of honour.

President of BDARA Major (Rtd) Haji Tamat bin Haji Lampoh, in his opening remarks, said, “The use of amateur radio in the field of communication is very wide because it can be used to connect individuals in the vicinity or around the world by using a certain set of amateur radio at a certain frequency.”

He added, “Communication using amateur radio has undergone a rapid development in technology. The systems which used to be analogue, are now digital.”

The guest of honour also witnessed a demonstration of radio activities by certified amateur radio operators and visited the BDARA exhibition booth.
