The Syababul Iman group of Sultan Sharif Ali Mosque in Kampong Sengkurong and mosque takmir committee members yesterday organised a Hijrah walk to usher in the Islamic new year of 1444 Hijrah.
The walk around Sengkurong allowed the participating youth group, mosque takmir committee members and villagers to strengthen ties, while at the same time glorifying the mosque with activities that developed the mind and soul, as practised by Prophet Muhammad (pbuh).
Mukim Sengkurong Acting Penghulu Dr Haji Abdullah Hanif bin Orang Kaya Maharaja Dinda Haji Saman flagged off the participants after a quick warm-up session.
Earlier in the day, participants performed dawn prayers and sat in for a religious talk delivered by Senior Assistant Professor and Director of Jawi Studies and Kitab Turath Research Centre at Religious Teachers University College of Seri Begawan (KUPU SB) Dr Haji Harapandi bin Dahri.
The talk titled ‘Hijrah Process and Progress’ enhanced awareness on thorough planning and self-reflection.
The Syababul Iman youth group was established in March 2012 to produce youths familiar with Al-Quran and As-Sunnah, and well-adjusted leaders of tomorrow. The group actively organises events such as Digitally Intellectual Youth Camp, Zero to Hero, Journey of a Muslim activity, Nightly vigil or Qiamullail: ‘Mihrab Cinta-Nya,’ Care for Palestine programme and Love the Mosque carnival.
