The 29th Executive Development Programme for Senior Government Officers (EDPSGO) saw the launch of its community outreach programme, ‘Spreading Support and Awareness of Childhood Cancer’ at Hua Ho Manggis Mall yesterday.
The programme commemorates the International Childhood Cancer Day (ICCD) that falls every February 15.
Permanent Secretary (Community and Culture) at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS) Hajah Nor Ashikin binti Haji Johari was the guest of honour.
The programme features the sale of drawings and messages from childhood cancer survivors by engaging retail establishments. The initiative is also supported by Hua Ho Department Store through the sale of its reusable shopping bags, with each bag featuring unique artworks created by the children as an act of solidarity in raising awareness on childhood cancer.
The shopping bags will be available for purchase in April.
All proceeds will go to Children’s Cancer Foundation (YASKA Brunei), a foundation that aims to provide lasting care and support for children in need.
Meanwhile, the event also saw the guest of honour handing over reusable shopping bag designs to the six young cancer survivors who created the artworks.
YASKA Brunei President Haji Suffian bin Haji Zainal Abidin, senior government officers of the 29th EDPSGO and officers from Universiti Teknologi Brunei and YASKA Brunei were also present.
