Soldiers foil Myanmar illegals’ attempt to enter country

ALOR SETAR (Bernama) – Soldiers from the Royal Malay Regiment sixth battalion (6RAMD) detained seven Myanmar nationals attempting to enter the country illegally through the undergrowth near the Sungai Laka, Bukit Kayu Hitam.

Sixth Brigade Commander Brigadier General Datuk Abdul Aziz Ismail said the illegals comprising five men and two women, aged between 20 and 35, were arrested by a team of 6RAMD personnel at 7am yesterday when they were on patrol in the area.

“The 6RAMD team, led by Major Rahman Arif Abidin, saw a group of people behaving suspiciously in the area before arresting all of them for not having any valid travel documents,” he said in a statement yesterday.

The illegals were brought to the Armed Forces Medical Centre of the fifth Border Regiment for health checks and later handed over to the Bukit Kayu Hitam Police Station for further action.
