A total of 120 bottles of alcohol, 240 cans of beer and 39 cartons of cigarettes were seized after Bangar Police Station personnel foiled a smuggling attempt of the contraband in Kampong Sungai Bantaian, Temburong District.

The Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) said they found a suspicious vehicle parked at the boat landing area of Kampong Menengah during a crime prevention patrol, which sped away after noticing the approaching police, moving towards Kampong Sungai Bantaian areas. Later, the driver abandoned the car and escaped into the nearby forest.

Upon inspection, the police personnel found the contraband hidden inside the vehicle. They brought the vehicle and contraband to Bangar Police Station, and the case handed over to the Royal Customs and Excise Department for further action.

The RBPF urged the public to share information on criminal activities via its hotline at 993, or visit any nearby police station.
