Smooth process but waiting time too long

It has been more than a year since I graduated from a local university. Unfortunately, I am unable to find a job despite applying everywhere.

The usual rejection reason is that I lack work experience but how am I supposed to gain experience if no one is willing to accept inexperienced fresh graduates like me?

I was lucky enough to have a friend suggest a potential job, not requiring work experience, at a local ride-hailing company.

Desperate to earn, I discussed with my parents and fulfilled all the documents such as having a commercial insurance for the vehicle used. I proceeded by submitting all forms, attending the training and sitting for the examination, to obtain the required driving licence. The process was smooth, but the waiting time is too long.

I have waited more than a month (at the time of writing) since the written examination and have not received any calls from the Land Transport Department regarding my taxi permit application. I had also sent them a letter for a follow-up but had no response.

Because of this I cannot start the job.

I also followed up with the local ride-hailing company but they have to wait for the LTD to give the green light.

What is the hold up?

Can the authorities give an update on the situation?
