Innovation of smart technology will play a key role in the development of civil aviation especially in the 4th Industrial Revolution.
This was stated by Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) Acting Director Haji Aminuddin bin Haji Mohd Taib during the Civil Aviation Forum 2020 held in conjunction with the International Civil Aviation Day 2020 at the Datastream Digital Sdn Bhd (DST) Headquarters yesterday.
“Smart technology innovation such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Robotics, Internet of Things (IoT) and Blockchain will play an important role in the development of civil aviation in the era of the 4th Industrial Revolution (4IR), and help reducing the negative impact of COVID-19 that hit the aviation industry especially in the implementation of measures to protect passengers and aviation workers,” he said.
Minister of Transport and Infocommunications Dato Seri Setia Awang Abdul Mutalib bin Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Setia Dato Paduka Haji Mohd Yusof was the guest of honour.
The forum panel comprised Legislative Council member and Young Professionals Network Brunei representative Yang Berhormat Khairunnisa binti Haji Ash’ari, and representatives from the Ministry of Health, DCA, Tourism Development Department, Authority for Info-communications Technology Industry of Brunei Darussalam (AITI), Royal Brunei Airlines (RB), DST and the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore.
Council of International Civil Aviation Organization President Salvatore Sciacchitano delivered a video message on International Civil Aviation Day themed ‘Advance Innovation for Aviation Development’.
Dato Seri Setia Awang Abdul Mutalib presented tokens of appreciation to former DCA directors.
Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications (MTIC) Haji Mohammad Nazri bin Haji Mohammad Yusof, heads of departments, executive officers, MTIC officers and staff were present.
