Six individuals including a local were each levied with a compound fine of BND100 yesterday by Law Enforcement Unit personnel of the Bandar Seri Begawan (BSB) Municipal Department after they were found to have violated the Minor Offences Act Section 12(1) Chapter 30 of disposing rubbish in public places in BSB during an operation codenamed Operasi Bersih 103/2019.
The offenders were local Imanuel anak Awang Aziz, Hidayat Amin and Rahmah from Indonesia, Mohammad Amir Hossain from Bangladesh, Yu Wenchang from China and Vinoth Kumar Kailasanathan from India. They need to pay the compound fine within seven days at the third floor of the BSB Municipal Department. Failure to do so will result in the case being brought to court.
If found guilty, the accused will be handed a BND1,000 fine, or a month’s imprisonment, for the first convicted offence. For subsequent offences, a penalty of BND3,000 and imprisonment of up to three months will be levied.
The public and companies are also reminded not to dispose rubbish in public areas.
