Six arrested for loan shark activities

Four men and two women were taken into police custody recently for alleged involvement in loan shark activities.

The Commercial Crime Investigation Section of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) at the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) is investigating all six suspects for offences under Section 3 of the Moneylenders’ Act, Chapter 62, and under Section 3 of the Criminal Assets Recovery Order 2012. The suspects are Sariffudin bin Haji Sidop, 41, Julai bin Abu Samah, 37, Yahya bin Osman, 39, Noor Saifan bin Haji Garip, 45, Hajah Fadzliah binti Haji Matassan, 40, and Lealy Roearni binti Untong, 39.

They were arrested based on information provided by enforcement agencies and the public.

The public is advised to be wary of questionable advertisements and to engage only with licensed moneylenders.
