Muslims should reflect on their intentions when performing good deeds, which is solely for the sake of Allah the Almighty, pray to avoid riak (performing good deeds for the attention and praise of others), and seek forgiveness from Allah the Almighty when riak creeps into one’s heart.
This was urged by Imams in yesterday’s Friday sermon, in which they also said sincerity is an attribute to ensure one’s intention of serving Allah the Almighty.
Imams said some characteristics of sincerity include being happy with Allah the Almighty’s blessings upon others; not being taken by others’ praise; evaluating one’s own shortcomings rather than those of others; avoiding fame; and endeavouring to conceal one’s virtuous deeds.
