There was a significant drop in new daily cases to 503 per day last week to the previous week of 643 cases daily.
Last week also saw 46,245 antigen rapid test (ART) results uploaded on the BruHealth app with 7.5 per cent testing positive.
These details were revealed by Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar during a weekly press conference yesterday.
The minister said 458 new cases were reported yesterday where 451 were from ART results and seven from 176 RT-PCR laboratory tests performed in the past 24 hours.
There are two cases in Category 5 receiving treatment at the intensive care unit and one case in Category 4 requiring respiratory assistance and under close monitoring.
Some 78.9 per cent of Brunei’s population have received at least three doses of the COVID-19 vaccine and 11.3 per cent have been administered the fourth shot.
Meanwhile, the trend of influenza and influenza-like infection (ILI) cases is showing a decrease and almost returned to a normal rate.
Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham advised the public to remain vigilant and take preventive measures such as self-isolating if experiencing signs of infection and avoiding crowded places. Those feeling unwell should see a doctor immediately if symptoms persist or worsen. Those aged above 60 and those with health problems are advised to get the annual influenza vaccine shot.
Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Health Haji Maswadi bin Haji Mohsin was also present.
