Siblings Maz Hazlyn binti Maieli and Maz Hazimah binti Maieli embraced Islam during a conversion ceremony at their family’s residence in Kampong Perpindahan Bukit Beruang on Saturday.
The sisters recited their Syahadah guided by religious officer from the Tutong District Dakwah Office Hajah Wadiananty binti Abdullah.
Both sisters chose their existing names as their Muslim names.
Older sister Maz Hazlyn said she learnt about life as a Muslim from family and friends as well as those who converted. This encouraged her to learn more about the religion and later choose Islam as her new faith.
A final year student at Politeknik Brunei following Petroleum Engineering, 20-year-old Maz Hazlyn expressed gratitude to her family who helped her get ready for her journey.
Meanwhile, 14-year-old Maz Hazimah said she first learnt about Islam at school. Having mostly Muslim friends at school, it prompted her to learn more about the religion and prepared her before embracing Islam.
Families and friends also attended the siblings’ conversion ceremony.
