The Ministry of Education (MoE) through the Entrepreneurship Innovation Centre (EIC) held its EIC Showcase for the 6th Celik-Biz Competition and the 11th BigStart Competition at the Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Complex on November 22.
The Best Booth for BigStart was won by the BIJAQ Group from Sayyidina Hasan Secondary School with the product name TechnoBin, while the Best Team that received the highest number of votes during the showcase was the CERADIK Group from Pengiran Kesuma Negara Bukit Beruang Primary School with the product name Lakastah Reading Application.
Legislative Council (LegCo) member Yang Berhormat Chong Chin Yee was the guest of honour.
Twenty-five groups registered to participate in the EIC Showcase, opened to Year 4 and Year 5 students as well as Year 9 and Year 10 students from government and private secondary schools and colleges under the MoE and the Department of Islamic Studies of the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
The showcase also saw the inauguration of the Junior Innovator Catalogue, a Catalogue of Prototype Collections created by students from the Celik-Biz Competition, BigStart Competition and the Special Education Department (JPKhas) Bootcamp since 2021.
During the showcase, special awards were also handed for the Best Booth for Celik-Biz, won by the Water Wizards Group from Mentiri Primary School with the product name WATER Cycle.
The EIC Showcase serves as a platform for students to showcase innovative products and services they created and designed through the competitions on September 26.
The competition themed ‘Innovation in Entrepreneurship’, had four sub-themes: Innovation, Edutainment, Digitalisation, and the Fourth Industrial Revolution (IR 4.0). – Daniel Lim
