Show of colours at charity dinner

THE Malayali Association (MA) of Brunei Darussalam hosted a charity dinner to mark its sixth anniversary at the V-Plaza Hotel’s Convention Hall in Kuala Belait recently.

High Commissioner of India to Brunei Darussalam Ajaneesh Kumar was the guest of honour.

The event began with the Brunei national anthem followed by the recitation of Doa Selamat and a welcoming address by MA President Ravi Bhaskaran who highlighted the association’s contribution to society since its inception in 2013.

The event continued with the presentation of a token of appreciation to President of Society for the Management of Autism Related issues in Training, Education and Resources (SMARTER) Brunei Malai Haji Abdullah bin Malai Haji Othman for his services to the society.

The event also saw welfare donations handed over to SMARTER Brunei and the Belait District Orphans Fund through their respective officials.

A total of 450 people attended the event which was further enlivened with cultural performances by association members and Chung Hua Middle School, Kuala Belait students followed by a dinner.
