THE special performance in honour of the visit to the Belait District by His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam yesterday included over 500 performers.
The performances in honour of His Majesty’s annual get-together ceremony in the Belait District was held at the Municipal Field. The performers comprised school students, youth from the National Service Programme (PKBN), representatives of non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and staff from government agencies and associations in the Belait District.
The three separate performances revolved around the theme Raja Berwawasan, Memperkaya Negara Progresif.
The theme highlighted the efforts made by His Majesty in achieving Vision 2035, including improvements in the area of education and highly skilled citizens, a high quality of life and a dynamic and resilient national economy.
The first segment titled Mendaulatkan Raja began with a combination of traditional and modern musical performances accompanied by a traditional dance using Bunga Putar to convey the citizens’ happiness and appreciation to His Majesty.
The next segment was titled Memperkaya Negara Progresif which saw the dancers taking the stage to act out a series of plays and movements in expressing the changing times, comparing the past to the present and how far the country has progressed and His Majesty’s efforts towards that.
These included steady improvements in education, infrastructure, as well as economy and industry; which were in line with the theme of the special performance.
All plays were accompanied with contemporary music played using traditional and modern musical instruments.
The third segment Kesyukuran dan Keceriaan saw all the performers taking to the stage performing an energetic final show comprising singing and dancing, which celebrated the youth of the country in moving forward in achieving and realising Vision 2035.
All participants gathered on stage to wish His Majesty happy birthday, as well as longevity and good health.
