Baiduri Bank organised a shopping activity and iftar with 10 underprivileged families from Temburong District through its annual corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative, Let’s Give Back This Ramadhan yesterday.

The initiative aims at providing relief for selected underprivileged families in the four districts by taking them shopping for household and basic necessities in preparation for Hari Raya.

The families in Temburong District were identified through the Brunei Council on Social Welfare (MKM) Brunei, a non-profit organisation established to address social issues in the country by providing assistance to improve the welfare of the vulnerable in the country.

As part of the bank’s pledge to co-create with the community, this year’s ‘Let’s Give Back This Ramadhan’ series witnesses partnership with not just MKM Brunei, but also with Dart Brunei, to support local entrepreneurship and business.

The first of the four events was held at Hua Ho Department Store, OneCity yesterday.

“We hope that these events are able to lighten the burden for the underprivileged families and bring some relief, especially with the upcoming Hari Raya festivities,” said Deputy Chief Executive Officer (Compliance, Corporate Governance and Legal Advisory) of Baiduri Bank Manuel Bulens, who further elaborated that this effort is in line with the bank’s mission to enrich, empower and engage the communities it serves.

Meanwhile, founder and Interim CEO of Dart Brunei Keeran bin Dato Paduka Janin said, “We are delighted to be part of Baiduri’s generous initiative that gives back to the community, help the underprivileged families and support our local Bruneian Dart drivers.”

The event concluded with iftar at All Season’s Restaurant, One City for the families, members of the media and Baiduri Bank volunteers.

The next event will be held in Kuala Belait on Thursday.
