I AGREE with the letter ‘ATMs should dispense more denominations of BND currency’ by Old Timer published in the Opinion page of the Weekend Bulletin on June 29.
I am in my late 50s and lucky to have friends and family who are willing and have the patience to teach me on how to use new technology.
Although it is important to adapt to the current norm of going cashless, it is also understandable that some people will be slow to change.
It is important that we still have physical cash to supplement going into a cashless community.
Having ATMs dispensing more denominations of BND currency will make life easier for those in the golden generation.
Speaking of currencies, I would like to ask the authorities and banks if the SGD1 coin is legal tender in Brunei.
If I am not mistaken, the BND is pegged to the SGD.
This means any SGD currency would be usable here.
We widely use the other SGD notes here, so I find it a bit confusing why we can’t use the SGD1 coin (based on personal experience).
