The Magistrate’s Court will hand down a sentence tomorrow after hearing guilty pleas from a 39-year-old local man indicted with outraging the modesty of a 14-year-old boy.
Awangku Ibrahim bin Pengiran Badar outraged a teenager’s modesty in a car parked at the Rimba recreational park on November 30, 2019.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Nurul Fitri binti Kiprawi revealed in court yesterday that at about 5.30pm, the defendant saw the victim alone outside his school waiting to be picked by his father.
The defendant offered to send the victim to his father’s place of work, and the victim agreed and entered the defendant’s car as he was under the impression that the defendant had been sent by his father to pick him up from school.
Along the way, the defendant stopped the car in the parking area of the Rimba recreational park. The defendant assaulted the victim, and in fear, the victim unwillingly obliged to the defendant’s actions.
The defendant later sent the victim to his father’s place of work in Rimba. The victim informed his father what had happened and a police report was lodged. Investigations by the Royal Brunei Police Force led to the defendant’s arrest.
The charge carries a penalty of a maximum jail of five years with whipping.
Magistrate Mohammad Marzuqi bin Sabtu is considering a fitting punishment.
