Seventeen set to rock Glastonbury

CNA – Seventeen is embracing the weight of expectation as they prepare for their historic performance at Glastonbury.

The South Korean boy band, consisting of members S Coup, Jeonghan, Joshua, Jun, Hoshi, Wonwoo, Woozi, The8, Mingyu, DK, Seungkwan, Vernon, and Dino, is set to make history as the first K-pop group to grace the Pyramid Stage at Worthy Farm in Pilton, Somerset, on Friday, June 28.

Choi Seung-cheol, known as S Coup, shared with the BBC the significance of this momentous occasion: “There’s a profound sense of responsibility.”

“We’ll keep coming back to that feeling and do our best to prepare, so that we can blow everybody away… Not just our fans, but every other member of the audience.”

Choi emphasised their readiness to perform in the afternoon without any reservations.

“The time of day doesn’t really matter to us,” explained the 28-year-old. “It’s actually even better that we’ll be performing in the afternoon because the audience can see us better under sunlight.”

In another development, Caity Baser, 21, criticised critics of this year’s lineup.

Glastonbury is celebrating more female representation this year, with Dua Lipa, 28, and SZA, 34, joining Coldplay as headliners in a historic first featuring multiple female headliners.

Adding to the lineup, Shania Twain, 58, will perform in the coveted Sunday afternoon legends slot.

Addressing criticisms, the 21-year-old rising star slated to perform on the Avalon Stage had a straightforward message for detractors in an interview with “Don’t attend if you don’t like it.”

She added, “Why does it matter? I’ve never looked at a festival lineup and thought, ‘Oh, that’s rubbish.'”

“I don’t care [who is playing] like I’m going to go and enjoy. Also, SZA, what? She’s been my number one listened-to artist since I was like 12.

“I love her so much! And Coldplay? What do you mean? It’s Shania Twain. What more do you want?

“People need to chill out and I guarantee you when they’re there they’ll go, ‘Aw that was sick.’ What’s all the fuss about?”
