I COULD not agree more with the letter by ‘Generasi Berwawasan’ published in the Opinion page of the Borneo Bulletin on March 9 regarding a chained elephant being kept in a terrible condition in Jerudong.
As humans, we must treat animals with respect.
Animals should not be chained and kept in horrible conditions.
I hope the authorities can take action to save the elephant.
However, the animal should not be released that simply.
After living in captivity for so long, I doubt it can survive on its own if released in the wild. We should hand it over to a proper animal conservation centre where it can be treated and eventually released after its condition is better.
