Selected Stars MD92 emerged winners of the Badminton Team Tournament held in conjunction with the 51st birthday celebration of His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah ibni His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office, after edging Amitie 3-2 in a keenly-contested final at the Youth Centre in the capital on Tuesday.
The winners brought home a cash prize of BND2,000 while the runners-up walked away with a BND1,500 cash prize.
Meanwhile, Jotech and Kawasaki shared third place with both teams leaving the court BND500 richer.
A total of 10 teams involving 170 players participated in the tournament with four categories contested namely veteran (50 Years and Above) doubles, men’s open doubles, under 23 men’s doubles and women’s open doubles.
Permanent Secretary (Youth) at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports Haji Zakaria bin Haji Serudin presented the prizes.
It was organised by Syarikat Othman and Associates Consulting Engineers and Selected Stars MD92 Football Team with the cooperation of the Brunei Darussalam National Badminton Association and the Youth and Sports Department. – Fadhil Yunus
