CYBERJAYA (Bernama) – The Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah and his consort Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin, graced the tree-planting programme organised by the state government yesterday.
Also present at the event was the Raja Muda of Selangor Tengku Amir Shah.
Selangor Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari in his speech said 1,500 shade trees and 3,000 types of shrubs would be planted by 2,000 participants comprising civil servants, students of public and private higher educational institutions, school children and non-governmental organisations. He said the tree-planting to cover an area of about 5.8 hectares of land would be divided into two plots.
“In line with the concept of urban gardening beautification, it was proposed that the area where the trees have been planted be referred as Cyberjaya Central Park,” added Amirudin.
At the event, Sultan Sharafuddin planted a Swietenia Macrophylla or Tunjuk Langit tree while Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin planted a Delonix Regia better known as Pokok Semarak Api.
