Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali’s (UNISSA) Rover Scout Crew 1102 recently held its second Basic Day Camp to provide members with better understanding, exposure and skills on how to set up camp.

Thirty members from UNISSA’s Rover Scout Crew 1102 also joined basic leadership training at the National Scout Training and Activity Centre in Jalan Gadong.

Scout membership for Rover Scouts starts at 18-26 years for youth or students at institutions of higher education.

During the practical training for the Basic Day Camp, the Rover Scout members were engaged in a host of activities, including doing community work by cleaning the Brunei Darussalam Scouts Association’s religious hall.

The camping event also coincided with ‘International Day of Peace’, which is celebrated worldwide on September 21, with ‘Shaping Peace Together’ as the theme for this year’s celebration.

UNISSA’s Rover Scout Crew 1102 members attended a talk on ‘Environmental awareness: Eco-friendly lifestyle’ delivered by UNISSA Rover Scout Coordinator and UNISSA’s Rover Scout 1102 Leader Dr Muhammad Alif bin Haji Sismat.

They also held up pledges bearing slogans for International Day of Peace as a sign of universal peace.

UNISSA Rover Scout Trainer Zainudin bin Haji Ishak led the training, with Training Commissioner Haji Othman bin Durani, Scout Leader Rakob bin Nasir, Brunei-Muara District Assistant Scout Commissioner Ritchie bin Siabu, and Temburong District Assistant Scout Commissioner Ronnie bin Siabu.
