Scouts hold cleaning campaign at Serasa Beach

The Brunei Darussalam Scouts Association (PPNBD) celebrated the annual World Environment Day 2020 with a beach cleaning campaign. It was also held in conjunction with PPNBD Brunei-Muara District’s ‘Earth Tribe: Plastic Tide Turners Challenge Badge’ programme.

Scouts Chief Commissioner Haji Badar bin Haji Ali launched the cleaning campaign at the Serasa Beach.

Deputy Scout Chief Commissioner Cum Youth Programme Commissioner Junaidi bin Haji Hussin, Chairman of the Brunei-Muara District Scout Association Haji Jalani bin Haji Ibrahim, Brunei-Muara District Scout Commissioner Pengiran Supri bin Pengiran Haji Hashim were also present.

All participants recited the ‘Earth Tribe: Plastic Tide Turners Challenge Badge’ programme pledge prior to the start of the cleaning activity.

PPNBD held several activities such as planting saplings and beach cleaning to mark World Environment Day 2020 themed ‘Time for Nature’.

PPNBD started the World Environment Day celebration on June 5 with the planting of durian saplings, honey bananas and sugarcane around the association’s headquarters in Kampong Lekiun of the Temburong District.

PPNBD is holding a series of cleaning campaigns at five beaches with the aim of collecting more than 200kg of plastic bottles and non-plastic waste materials.

The first campaign was held on June 14 at Kampong Sungai Liang Beach Resort. A campaign was held at the Seri Kenangan Beach in the Tutong District on July 5.

Some 75kg of plastic bottles and 70kg of non-plastic material wastes were collected.
