The Brunei Darussalam Scouts Association (PPNBD) held its seventh anniversary of Tree Planting Day as part of the Messengers of Peace Initiatives at the association site project in Kampong Sungai Mau, Jalan Labi-Liang in Belait District recently.
Chief Commissioner Haji Badar bin Haji Mohd Ali officiated.
The programme was introduced to promote the care and conservation of the environment among scout members as well as raise awareness on the importance of the environment as one of the ‘Messenger of Peace Initiative’.
The programme, launched in 2014, aimed at supporting continuous environmental conservation efforts including forest resource ecosystems through the care of plants or trees using ‘Plant-Preserve-Monitor-Plant’ method.
The Messengers of Peace programme is a global initiative involving scouts from around the world, to implement projects that can contribute to the concept of peace at the level of their countries.
Scout commissioners, assistant district commissioners and scout leaders were also present.
