The Brunei Darussalam Scouts Association (PPNBD) held the annual Jamboree on the Air (JOTA) activity yesterday while scout associations around the world mark JOTA and Jamboree on the Internet (JOTI) every October 15.

Organised by the Tutong District Scouts Association (PPDT), the event saw the participation of scouts from Chung Hwa Tutong School, Chung Hwa Kiudang School, Sufri Bolkiah Secondary School, St Margaret’s School and PPDT Open Troop.

Chairman of Scouts Group 2030 Haji Yahya bin Haji Abdul Rahman was the guest of honour and Head of Tutong Youth and Sports Department Kamil bin Lamat was the special guest at the event held at the Tutong Youth Centre.

The event began with the mass recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah led by Assistant Commissioner PPDT of Cub Scouts Section Skip Haji Asmawi bin Haji Zulkifli followed by a speech from Acting Scouts Commissioner HAM Radio and IT and Chair of JOTA 2022 Skip Khairul Annuar bin Haji Yaakob.

It continued with PPDT Scouts Commissioner Skip Haji Md Sufian bin Haji Abdul Karim presenting JOTA certificates to the guest of honour and the special guest.

JOTA is conducted worldwide to strengthen ties among scout members through radio communication. It is carried out during camping activities to introduce and raise awareness among scout members on the importance of radio communication, particularly during emergencies or disasters where communications play an important role in calling for help or rescue.
