SCOT acknowledged for contributions

Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin acknowledged the Society for Community Outreach and Training (SCOT) for their contributions in poverty eradication and stressed on the importance of working together in eradicating poverty in Brunei Darussalam.

He shared this during SCOT’s 6th Annual General Meeting at the Youth Centre in Bandar Seri Begawan yesterday.

SCOT, the minister said, “is part of the special committee in eradicating poverty. As we approach Vision 2035, we will be able to eradicate poverty.”

“We are reviewing the action plan and input from SCOT is always welcome,” he added.

The minister also highlighted that Wargamas, an organisation of senior citizens also has the same objective in line with youth in eradicating poverty and unemployment.

Aligning young people and Wargamas with the same objective to eradicate poverty, he said, “We have to work together to tackle this challenges that we are facing. An action plan is important.”

The event was also attended by CEO of Progresif Sdn Bhd Hajah Nurul Haniah binti Haji Mohd Jaafar, representatives from the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports and committee members of SCOT.

The minister also presented awards to Hajah Nurul Izzati Khairunnisa binti Haji Embran, Progresif Sdn Bhd and Mohd Arif bin Haji Zainal.

Hajah Nurul Izzati Khairunnisa received this year’s SCOT Honorary Award, for her exemplary contribution as well as her determination, passion and continuous commitment towards driving the mission of the organisation. The award is for outstanding member as acknowledgement and appreciation for significant contribution towards the development and progress of the organisation

Progresif Sdn Bhd was awarded the Stakeholder Award, for the company’s continuous support towards strengthening SCOT’s mission to create a dynamic public-private partnership in the areas of youth development and poverty alleviation initiatives. Hajah Nurul Haniah received the award.

Meanwhile, the Certification of Aspiration was presented to Director of Finance Mohd Arif bin Haji Zainal for his commitment, dedication and support which has contributed to significant developments towards strengthening the foundation of SCOT since its establishment.

SCOT Chairman Mohd Anwar bin Haji Mohammad hoped that SCOT continues to work hard in the effort to support the wishes of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam in eradicating poverty in this country through charitable projects.

The event also saw a presentation on SCOT’s achievements and future projects in 2020/2021 which will include SCOT Social Kitchen.
