School, university students take part in Khatam Al-Quran ceremonies

Seventy-eight participated in a Khatam Al-Quran ceremony on Thursday, in conjunction with Universiti Teknologi Brunei’s (UTB) convocation ceremony next month.

Minister of Development Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Muhammad Juanda bin Haji Abdul Rashid, as the Acting Chair of UTB Council was the guest of honour.

Vice-chancellor of UTB Datin Paduka Professor Dr Hajah Zohrah binti Haji Sulaiman was also present.

The ceremony commenced with the recitation of Surah Adh-Dhuhaa until Surah Al-Masad, followed by Takhtim and Doa Khatam.

Meanwhile, Primary 6 students from Lambak Kanan Religious School yesterday participated in a Khatam Al-Quran ceremony at the school auditorium.

Village Head of RPN Kampong Lambak Kanan Zone 3 Haji Mahir bin Mohd Yussof was the guest of honour.

Al-Quran verses were recited by students, followed by Takhtim and the reading of the Doa Khatam. After the ceremony, the guest of honour sprinkled scented flowers on the students, before presenting certificates and souvenirs.

Parents and guardians of the students also joined in sprinkling of scented flowers.

On Thursday, Primary 6 students from the Salambigar Religious School who have completed their 30 Juzuks of Al-Quran were feted with a Khatam Al-Quran ceremony. The ceremony included a Dikir performance.

Commander of the Royal Brunei Navy First Admiral Dato Seri Pahlawan Spry bin Haji Serudi @ Seruji was the guest of honour.
