Twenty-nine teams from 29 schools are competing in the Brunei Darussalam Schools Netball League (BDSNL) 2023 at the Multipurpose Hall, Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium Sports Complex (MPH), which began on Tuesday until June 13.

Organised by the Ministry of Education (MoE) through the Physical and Recreation Division, Department of Co-curriculum Education, the tournament will be held every Tuesday and Saturday.

The BDSNL is a tournament for female students from secondary schools, colleges and sixth form centres in the Sultanate, held for the first time this year. The teams are divided into eight groups.

According to the Physical and Recreation Division, the tournament is conducted in a league format with the playoff round held this year, while the BDSNL Super League and BDSNL Premier Cup will be held in 2024. Each group champion will be qualified to compete in the BDSNL Super League 2024 and the rest will compete in the BDSNL Premier Cup 2024.

Among the main purpose of this tournament is to prepare for participation in the annual ASEAN School Games by the ASEAN Schools Sports Council (ASSC).

The tournament is also held in collaboration with the Brunei Netball Association to assist in technical management in ensuring that the tournament is carried out in accordance with the latest netball laws.
