KUCHING (Bernama) – The Sarawak Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Research is still waiting for the federal government funding to train nearly 3,000 teachers to teach English as a medium of instruction for Mathematics and Science in primary schools statewide from January next year.
Its Minister Datuk Seri Michael Manyin said currently the ministry was in the midst of preparing the module, and determining the total cost of the training as well as to print the materials.
“So we are still waiting the exact amount. Whereas the training of the teachers will be conducted here in Kuching.
“We have identified a total of 2,687 teachers at primary schools to teach Science and Mathematics in English next year,” he told reporters after officiating the 54th Sarawak Secondary School Principal Conference yesterday.
He said the training would be conducted simultaneously by lecturers from the Institutes of Teacher Education around Sarawak.
