Sandakan police solve 31 criminal cases in January

SANDAKAN (Bernama) – The Sandakan police had solved 31 of the 52 criminal cases reported in the district last month, District Police Chief ACP Mohd Azhar Hamin said yesterday.

He said the cases were solved following arrest of the suspect for alleged stealing, house-breaking, motorcycle theft and robbery through various crime prevention operations.

“This is a result of the coopera-tion from the people in providing information to the police which led to the arrest of the suspects,” he told a press conference yesterday.

According to Mohd Azhar, 25 suspects were arrested, comprising 20 Malaysians and five foreigners aged between 17 and 53, with 12 of them tested positive for syabu.

Mohd Azhar said six of the suspects, aged between 18 and 53, were believed responsible for the cable theft belonging to Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SESB) sub-station in Sibuga, involving losses of RM80,000.
