Stalls under the jurisdictions of the Brunei-Muara District Office came under scrutiny during a two-day joint operation by the Licensing and Enforcement Division as well as the District Progress and Development Division of the Brunei-Muara District Office, and other enforcement agencies.

Officers from the Religious Enforcement Division of the Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA), Health Enforcement Division of the Environmental Health Division, and the Quality Control and Food Safety Division of the Ministry of Health (MoH) zeroed in on stalls at Gerai Kampong Rimba Simpang 51 and Gerai Aneka Ria in Kampong Rimba.

During a November 19 joint operation with Religious Enforcement Division officers from the Syariah Affairs Department, five stalls were found to be operating during Friday prayers. The offence can be prosecuted under the Syariah Penal Code Order 2013 under the provisions of Chapter 194 of not performing Friday prayers.

In a joint operation on November 20, with officers from divisions under the MoH, 21 food stall handlers were issued BND100 compound fines under Section 62A(2) of the Infectious Diseases Act (Chapter 204) for not wearing a face mask when conducting business activities.

A BND200 compound fine was also issued to Gerai Man Rimba for improper rubbish disposal and open burning, under Section 12(1) of the Minor Offences Act (Chapter 30).
