Royalty at CHSK Badminton Cup semi-finals

His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah ibni His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Her Royal Highness Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah binti Pengiran Haji Salleh Ab Rahaman attended the semi-final round of the Brunei Darussalam CHSK Badminton Cup 2021 at the CHSK Badminton Court in Kiudang last night.

Yang Teramat Mulia Pengiran Muda ‘Abdul Muntaqim and partner Dessen Chung Min Tin of the Flying Gravity (Waznah) team competed against Muhammad Talipuddin bin Ermadena and Mohammad Haziq bin Rose from the RHTS team in the under-14 boys’ doubles category.

Yang Teramat Mulia Pengiran Anak Muneerah Madhul Bolkiah was also present.

Yang Teramat Mulia Pengiran Muda ‘Abdul Muntaqim joined his teammates in the final after the pairing of Dodi Setiadi and Wiwi Rahman secured the decisive point following a 21-9, 21-6 win over RHTS’ pairing of Ermadena bin Haji Talip and Rahmah binti Datu Ratna Haji Sukor.

Earlier in the under-14 boys doubles, Yang Teramat Mulia Pengiran Muda ‘Abdul Muntaqim and Dessen Chung were defeated 20-22, 13-21 to Muhammad Talipuddin and Mohammad Haziq.

Flying Gravity (Waznah) will meet Honey Carsmart in the final after Haji Jamidin @ Haji Sahrin bin Haji Emran collected the decisive point in a 21-16, 22-20 win over Ali Mustapha bin Haji Abdul Hamid @ Haji Amit in the veteran men’s singles category.

Upon arrival, Their Royal Highnesses were greeted by Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin and Deputy Permanent Secretary (Youth and Sports) at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports Colonel (Rtd) Pengiran Haji Maiddin bin Pengiran Haji Said.

Twelve categories were contested: Men’s singles open, women’s singles open, men’s doubles open, women’s doubles open, mixed doubles open, under-14 boys’ singles, under-14 boys’ doubles, men’s singles veteran, women’s singles veteran, men’s doubles veteran, women’s doubles veteran and mixed doubles veteran.

The competition concludes tomorrow with the final, while BRKP OCT will play against RHTS in the third place playoff.

The tournament, which commenced on March 14, had initially started with eight teams, divided into two groups during the early rounds.

The participating teams are Flying Gravity (Waznah), Easyway, R&T, BRKP OCT, Honey Carsmart, RHTS, Muara Port Company and D’Sunlit.

The Brunei Darussalam CHSK Badminton Cup 2021 is held in conjunction with the 37th National Day celebration.
